TRADITIONS OF SKOMOROKH CULTURE IN PERFORMATIVE PRACTICES OF EVGENY MALAKHIN (OLD MAN B.U. KASHKIN) AND ART GROUP "KARTINNIK" IN THE 1980s−2000s.

Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №2 (66) June, 2019

The article addresses the performative practices of the informal art group "Kartinnik" (Sverdlovsk−Ekaterinburg), which used the stylistic features of Russian 17th−19th century skomorokh theater. The researcher focuses on one of the least studied aspects of Russian regional underground – the shows and performances of the art group "Kartinnik" in the 1980s - 2000s. Their practices reinterpret the ideas and traditions of street and fair shows of the Early Modern and Modern era that characterized the informal Russian art scene in that period.
