The problem of insecurity of public buildings in the context of safer architectural environment design

The tragic events of our time force architects and related specialists to reflect not only on the issues of dealing with critical consequences of emergency situations, but also on their prerequisites. In most cases, structural engineering and technical means of protection are used to ensure the safety of public buildings. This study analyzes international experiences in designing administrative, cultural and leisure and educational facilities regarding possible architectural safety criteria, which suggests a number of problems that require special attention when creating protected public spaces.

The activation of city squares through sociocultural programming of architecture

The article examines the relation between the architecture of a public square and the level of its social activity. The concept of a place’s sociocultural environment and its influence on the popularity and attractiveness of the area in the city are analyzed in detail. It is suggested that vibrant urban life could be restored using a method of sociocultural programming of city squares by changing the physical conditions of the environment for different scenarios of space use. Emphasis is placed on identifying architectural means for the implementation of sociocultural programmes that create opportunities for various forms of social interaction and everyday and festive activities of people in the public square.

MODERN TRENDS IN THE DESIGN OF CHILDREN'S CAMPS

The article reviews domestic and international experiences in the design of children's camps, campsites, recreation centers, and spas related to the topic of recreation, for both children and adults. The main development criteria were identified, which provided a basis for analysis of all child recreation typologies. Basic requirements for the treatment of the spatial environment of these camps are formulated and the main trends in their development are identified.
