The article considers the history of emergence of pedestrian streets in historical cities, reviews pedestrian streets using the examples of Prague and of some Russian cities and identifies prospects for the development of the pedestrian Dzerzhinsky Street in Tyumen. The results of the study suggest actions needed to ensure successful functioning of this street.
