An algorithm for generating the apartment mix in section-type multi-story residential buildings for an automated layout generation system

Apartment mix planning in multi-story, sectional-type residential buildings is considered in the context of the modern housing market. The study aims to develop an apartment classification system that serves as the basis for an algorithm capable of automatically generating layout solutions. The methodology encompasses an analysis of the evolution of housing typologies in Russia, a review of existing classification approaches based on comfort levels, and a graph-analytical study of over 200 contemporary layout designs. A classification system is proposed allowing for room count, floor area, geometric shape, and functional zoning. A library of standard layout solutions has been compiled. An algorithm for generating the apartment mix is proposed. This algorithm utilizes residential units as building blocks while accounting for section type, solar exposure, and methods of vertical and horizontal grouping of apartments. The findings provide a foundation for developing an automated tool for generating layout solutions.
