Today municipalities are in need of integrating their strategies of socio-economic development and planning regulations leading to the adoption of documents reflecting and demonstrating what influence socio-economic development may have on the territory of a municipality. The emergence of spatial development concepts and city master plans in the national planning practice is just an acknowledgement of the need to have a spatial development strategy.
