MULTIFUNCTIONAL VR APPLICATION BASED ON DIGITAL BUILDING MODEL

Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №4 (68) December, 2019

Recently, virtual design and construction (VDC) [1] has been gaining increasing popularity. This approach allows design errors to be identified at early stages and the likelihood of extensive redesign to be significantly reduced. Model elements, which depend on each other, maintain their relationship during changes in any element, while the use of virtual environment enables quick preparation and exchange of visual information. This project was implemented as part of the VDC. It simplifies the exchange of complex ideas and provides more opportunities for a creative approach to interaction with customers resulting in continuing business relationships and excellent references.
This article describes additional solutions for a VR application project based on a BIM project with the ability to manage the energy efficiency parameters of a building [2]. The project now has an option enabling detailed information about rooms and lighting sources to be imported from Autodesk Revit and, thus, makes it possible to create high-quality quartography (apartment mix) and evaluate the level of illumination of a building object within the framework of the Unreal Engine.

THE USE OF VIRTUAL REALITY (VR) AS A MEANS F ARCHITECTURAL VISUALIZATION

Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №4 (64) December, 2018

The article describes a new approach to architectural visualization using a render in real time. As an example, the authors consider the process of constructing a virtual stage on the basis of a BIM model. The original model was created in Autodesk Revit while the textures and décor elements were finalized in Autodesk 3ds Max and MoI 3d. The article presents in detail the possibility of creating a system of Blueprints visual scripts in Unreal Engine for implementing a full-scale interactive virtual stage. The proposed approach enables a realistic rendering to be created in real time and the interior to be modified in dynamics. It also includes a convenient method for identifying possible collisions.
