EUROPEAN PRINTS IN THE COLLECTION OF THE FINE ART DEPARTMENT AT THE MUSEUM OF THE URAL SOCIETY OF NATURAL SCIENCE LOVERS: HISTORY OF ACQUISITION AND CONTENTS IN THE FIRST THIRD OF THE 19TH CENTURY

The article considers the formation of the 17th–19th century European prints collection in the Fine Art Department of the Museum of the Ural Society of Natural History Lovers in the first third of the 20th century (the Ural Regional State Museum after 1925). The author focuses on the provenance of the engravings, etchings and lithographs by European artists included into this collection, which was handed over to the Sverdlovsk Picture Gallery in 1936. It is the first attempt to systematize and describe stylistically the European prints that now make up the basis of the European graphics collection at the Ekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts.
