MODERN-DAY PUBLISHING PROJECTS TO RECREATE EARLY 20th CENTURY FUTURISTIC BOOKS

Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №1 (49) March, 2015

The article is devoted to the modern-day book publishing projects that aspire to reconstruct early 20th century futuristic books, an object of recent growing interest. The original futuristic books are kept in libraries, museums or collections. Access to them is limited, and sometimes they can be seen put to auction. In order to do historical justice to them and help the reader to rediscover futuristic publications, the publishers employ two production techniques, facsimile and “handiwork”, aimed to produce absolutely different effects on the reader. The article reviews the history of modern-day futuristic book publishing projects and gives a characteristic to each of them.
