THE FORMULA OF STYLE BY ANNETTE GÖRTZ

Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №2 (50) June, 2015

The article describes the mechanisms behind the eclecticism of the rapidly evolving fashion. Modification of the set of norms that express the aesthetic and ethical meanings of time is highlighted. In costume design, these norms, on the one hand, are closer to human needs servicing than anything else; on the other hand, it is through them that artistic interpretations of the relationships with the world are created, and the human individual him/herself becomes the subject of art. This approach requires identifying the dominant methods in the work of a designer as a reading of the author's formula, which allows determining designer’s individual priorities. Investigation of the current norms is based on the fashion collections by the German designer Annette Hörtz. The perspective used presents the internal connections between the garment and spatial arts at the level of general compositional universals and structural isomorphism in style formation as follows:
- Formal and compositional analysis of models by two-dimensional images (photographs) with graphic reconstruction of the projections;
- Comparison of the aesthetic, structural and technological methods of costume design in the context of poetics of contemporary art and nonlinear architecture;
- Associative synthesis in terms of the author’s philosophy. Annette Hörtz’ formula, processing traditions and innovations, is defined as ecological deconstruction.
