ARTISTIC FEATURES OF FURNISHINGS IN THE SOVIET URBAN DWELLING INTERIOR OF 1930-1950s

Based on analysis of authentic furniture, elements of artistic decoration (lace, embroidery) and formatted textiles used in the 1930-1950s urban dwelling, the author reveals the artistic specificity of this set of furnishings and examines the artistic and sculptural features of the furniture and the artistic essence and significance of the interior textiles. The socio-cultural aspects of transformation of the fancy living traditions are examined. The material for the research was represented by exhibits from museum expositions, antique shops, private collections of Moscow, Novosibirsk and cities of Altai region, internet-auctions; literature sources in which the artistic qualities of the 1930-1950s household items are examined directly or indirectly; public photographs and family archive pictures taken in interiors pertaining to the first half of the 20th century
