THE ATTITUDES OF IRKUTSK RESIDENTS TO INCREASING COMMUTING

Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №3 (51) September, 2015

The article presents the results of a survey aimed to identify the ability of Irkutsk residents to accept the increasing agglomeration impact. The data of the survey were examined by type of urban environment (socio-spatial elements). Essential contradiction between the attitudes to the development of links and its direct consequence is revealed. It is found that the more developed the socio-spatial element is, the less pronounced the contradictions are, and the more predictable the response to the development of agglomeration links is. A sharp increase in the agglomeration impact in the context of the current socio-spatial environment of Irkutsk, its functional relationships and city structure can lead to substantial social tensions.
