ASPECTS OF THE SYSTEMS APPROACH TO ARCHITECTURAL CRITICISM

Based on the reading of the book «Architecture and Critical Imagination» by Wayne Attoe, American professor and critic of architecture, the author suggests a method of systemic criticism and proposes tools for evaluating contemporary architectural projects.

DOCTRINAL CRITICISM AS ONE OF THE METHODS OF ARCHITECTURAL CRITICISM

The article presents the results of studying and analyzing the fundamental work of the American professor of architecture and practicing architect Wayne Osborn Attoe entitled "Architecture and Critical Imagination" published in 1978, specifically, groups of architectural criticism methods proposed by this author. Special attention is given to the method of doctrinal criticism, which is one of the main in the standard group of methods. Tools for assessing architectural objects used within the doctrinal method of architectural criticism are proposed, and relationship between the theoretical postulates of W.Attoe with domestic theoretical developments in the field of architectural criticism is highlighted.
