The article examines the technical and technological peculiarities of decorative ceramics manufactured in the second half of the 19th – early 20th century and identifies the location of decorative ceramic composition in the architectural composition of St. Petersburg buildings. Typological groups of monuments are suggested based on these data. Each of these groups is characterized by compositional principles of interaction between decorative ceramics and architectural elements.
