The early 20th century saw the emergence of new capital cities in Australia, India, Pakistan, Brazil, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, Tanzania, etc. The cities included into the scope of this study were selected in terms of their relevance to the concept of an ideal City of the Future in the author's interpretation and their location in previously undeveloped areas. This article considers in detail the common principles underlying the compositions and plans of the cities’ central areas.
