MANUAL AND COMPUTER TECHNOLOGIES IN ACADEMIC ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN

The article actualizes both manual techniques and computer technologies in the academic course of architectural design, discusses their balance depending on the theme of the project, and considers the importance and value of manual sketching and the merits and advantages of computer modelling. While considering the issue of creativity in architectural design, the author argues that it is best revealed through the use of manual techniques. The evolution of digital means and tools and respective trends are reviewed, and further potentialities in the use of both technologies and ways of their integration in academic architectural design are suggested.
