EXAMINATION OF THE SEISMODYNAMIC CHARACTERISTICS OF BUILDINGS USING THE “REIGSTR” RECORDER OF SEISMIC SIGNALS”

Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №2 (38) June, 2012

Diagnosis of man-made structures has always been important because it is linked with human
and environmental safety. Civil engineering and geophysics, seismometry in particular,
approach this issue differently. Civil engineers are interested mainly in the statics of a
project, specifically the properties of materials and the operation of individual assembly
units. Seismometry aims to analyse the dynamics of constructions. Seismic methods have been
developed for studying the response of structures to strong impacts. The article reviews an
instrument that enables engineers to conduct seismodynamic examination of buildings based
on their response to weak microseismic impacts in urban fabric in the context of industrial
noise rather than to strong elastic impacts. The instrument ensures efficient assessment of
the condition of work in progress or existing buildings in accordance with the standard GOST
Р 53778 – 2010 put into effect by Order No. 37 of the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation
and Metrology on 25 March 2010.
