CURRENT ISSUES IN ARMORED VEHICLE DESIGN

The ‘overcrowding’ of armored vehicles with various weapons, instruments and electronic equipment sets before combat vehicle designers an issue of improving the protection and ‘habitability’ of these vehicles, which requires a new anthropo-technological system that meets modern quality-of-life standards.
This issue cannot be resolved in the context of a complex military design network, where a broad range of specifications and requirements have to be met, without engaging integrated design methodologies, including consideration of a whole range of functional, structural, technological, ergonomic and socio-economic questions.
Armored vehicle design is carefully thought-out and technologically supported aesthetic organization of form and its constituent elements that makes it possible to create an inner habitable space meeting specified parameters and constraints and ensuring efficient operation of the combat vehicle by the crew in the best achievable conditions of comfort and security.
A design strategy aimed at creating "open architecture" with a possibility of combining modular components allows one to configure objects depending on the brief, extend the functional and upgrading features of combat vehicles and, ultimately, optimize the composition of the armed forces. A flexible design approach based on a comprehensive system of analysis and prediction can help integrate advanced technological solutions and discoveries from related fields that were previously unknown, in armored vehicle design.
