The concept of coloristic treatment of a linear urban structure (on the example of Leninsky prospekt in Voronezh)

Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №4 (84) December, 2023

We examined the pool of colors demonstrated by the natural context of the city of Voronezh and the color palette of the architecture on the Left Bank and the main street Leninsky Prospekt of this district. Based on this study, a conceptual idea is proposed for the color treatment of the city’s extended linear structure. The concept allows for the spatial arrangement of the street, ensuring continuity in the perception of its colors, shapes and spaces and the stylistic features of the buildings. Orientation in the space of the street is improved through the accentuation by color of high-rise dominants, architectural monuments, socially and functionally significant objects, and historical buildings of architectural and artistic interest.

Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №1 (81) March, 2023

The publication aims to highlight the multifaceted work of civil engineer Stanislav Myslovskii, who worked in various stylistic vectors of eclecticism and modernity. An attempt is made to illustrate the universalism of this major Voronezh architect of the second half of the 19th - early 20th century and his ability to design and build in any stylistic manner with a pronounced individuality of his creative style. The architect’s preferences in his architectural work with a wide palette of stylistic orientations are considered: Neo-Renaissance, Neo-Baroque, Neo-Greek, Neo-Gothic, Moorish style, "brick" style, Russian style, and rational modern. Examples of architectural typologies are provided, in which S.L.Myslovskii showed himself to the highest degree of professionalism, knowledge, and talent.

THE RUSSIAN STYLE IN VORONEZH ARCHITECTURE IN THE 19TH -EARLY 20TH CENTURY

Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №1 (73) March, 2021

As part of the national architectural context, the authors address a specific phenomenon of Russian architecture – the Russian style and its features as can be seen in the mid19th-early 20th century architecture of provincial Voronezh. An attempt is made to identify the set of factors that influenced the consideration of these architectural projects as specimens of medieval Russian architecture and the emergence of the Russian style in the country with its regional specifics. A number of the most significant and striking stone and wooden buildings in Voronezh reveal techniques and forms borrowed from old Russian art of building and vernacular architecture.

THE 1930s ARCHITECTURE OF VORONEZH

Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №1 (69) March, 2020

The article is devoted to the problem of mutual influence, interrelation and conflict between the architectural avant-garde and the classical heritage. It is the first study ever that considers the material related to form development, compositional techniques and professional signatures in the 1930s architecture of Voronezh. An attempt is made to show the regional features of Constructivist architecture, Post-Constructivism and Soviet Neoclassicism in Voronezh as manifestations of the objective process of evolution of Russian architecture through comprehensive analysis of the architects’ creativity methods. The study recognizes a number Voronezh and Moscow architects who practiced the style of "pure" Constructivism (before 1932) and discusses the reasons why they changed the orientation of their creativity in the period from 1932 to 1941.
