This article is a reflection on the eternal themes of historicism and avant guarde in architecture. It has been inspired by the practice of teaching architectural composition at Gymnasium No. 120 where together with the year 10 pupils of the architectural class, and embraced by such architectural authorities as Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe, Konstantin Melnikov, Andrey Ikonnikov and many others, we reflect on the essence of architecture and develop attitudes to it.
