The historical and artistic process of regional park construction in the Soviet period in Yakutsk is considered for the first time. The study is based on archival material from St. Petersburg State Technical University. The program and intents behind the establishment of a central park of culture and recreation in Yakutsk; the role of the Leningrad town-planning school of thought in its development, and the influence of the Gorky Park in Moscow on this process are analyzed. The barriers to the implementation of the project’s concept in full are identified.
