The Kazan Helicopter Factory is considered as an example of an integrated approach to the redevelopment of industrial sites based on the ‘principle of continuity’, i.e. preservation of the “spirit of the place”. The project provides for comprehensive redevelopment of this industrial area, including the provision of a residential function, recreation of the historical residential morphotypes, and search for and preservation of its identity and uniqueness.
