Amur River Flotilla base near Khabarovsk as an example of far eastern military urbanism. 1908-1918

The article, written on the basis of material found in the archives of Moscow, St. Petersburg and Vladivostok, presents the results of the first year of the research project “Military Theme in the Architectural and Spatial Development of the Far East” supported by a grant from the Russian Science Foundation. Construction work commissioned by the naval department in the Amur Military District is considered on the example of the activities of the District Engineering Directorate and military construction committees. The main part of the text is devoted to the history of the Amur River Flotilla base in the Osipovsky backwater near Khabarovsk, including base development stages, risk factors, planning solution, architecture of crew buildings, and improvements. The importance of actualizing the historical heritage of the naval department as the basis of the Far Eastern cultural landscape is emphasized.

Bedroom interiors in russia (RSFSR in the USSR) from 1946 to the 1970s

This study is devoted to the evolution of the bedroom interior in Russia (RSFSR in the USSR) in the 1946-1970s by stages of housing development in the USSR. A distinctive feature of this study is a comprehensive analysis of the physical and spatial environment and the stylistic treatment of the bedroom interiors as one of the important zones in the dwelling, depending on bedroom types and their functional zoning in the dwelling on the basis of historical and analytical analysis (using photographic materials) of bedroom interior evolution over this period.

BEDROOM INTERIOR IN THE FIRST HALF OF THE 20th CENTURY (EUROPE). NEOPLASTICISM, FUNCTIONALISM

The article presents a comprehensive analysis of the stylistic features, both spatial and physical, that are associated with the emergence and development of bedroom interiors in 1901-1939; the influence of gender on bedroom typology; and the characteristic zoning principles. Bedroom interiors by Gerrit Rietveld, Le Corbusier, and Eileen Gray, iconic examples of Neoplasticism and Functionalism interior design in Europe in 1919-1939, are reviewed. The conclusion provides a detailed rationale for the distinctive features of the "innovative" direction in bedroom interior design.
