THE METHODOLOGY OF CONCEPTUAL MODELING IN ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN AS A DESIGN AREA

Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №3 (79) September, 2022

The need to deepen the scientific base for the specialist area of Environmental Design with the use of the high potential of the general scientific categorical/systemic methodology has suggested developing a methodology for conceptual modeling in the environmental design as a field of design. The theoretical basis is the research findings obtained at the previous stages of the study with the use of categorical/systemic and homeostatic methods. The author describes the purpose, objectives, basic principles, basic concepts, stages of the research, as well as tools and procedures for applying the methodology. Thus, a tool has been added to the theoretical base of this specialist area in the form of a methodology for constructing a content-based regulatory/predictive system of models that determine the structure of a system, the properties of its elements and cause-and-effect relationships inherent in the system and essential for achieving the goal of modeling. In conclusion, the author reviews the theoretical findings and practical results and outlines the directions of further work.

ENVIRONMENT AS AN OBJECT OF DESIGN: DEFINITION OF THE CONCEPT BY THE METHOD OF TWO-LEVEL TRIADIC DECODING

Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №2 (74) June, 2021

The purpose of the study is to construct a definition and identify the basic aspects of the concept of environment as a design object by considering the nature of the phenomenon under discussion. A number of general scientific cognitive tools have been used: content analysis, comparison and the method of two-level triadic decoding of categories, which presents a tool of the dynamic information systems theory and categorical and systems methodology. Significant definitions of environment as an object of artistic design have been reviewed, and the basic characteristics of the concept under study have been identified. A conceptual model has been developed and interpreted, and a scientifically grounded definition has been constructed. Theoretical and practical outlooks for further use of the definition and its aspects are discussed.
