EPHEMERAL FACTS AND REVELATIONS ABOUT THE GARDEN CITY PROJECT AT THE BEGINNING OF THE 20th CENTURY IN BARNAUL

The article reviews briefly information discovered on the garden city project in Barnaul. The discoveries have made it possible to introduce into scholarly discourse information about the possible developers of the project – engineers A. M. Larionov and I. F. Nosovich. The plans found and the mappings made by the author reveal true reasons why Barnaul developed in the northern direction. Ephemeral facts have been established and substantiated, suggesting a different view of the theory underlying the garden city project in Barnaul in the early 20th century.

The article reconstructs the biography of the civil engineer I.F.Nosovich, whose professional activity unfolded in the Altai District at the end of the 19th – early 20th century. This study gives an insight, for the first time ever, into the techniques and methods characteristic of the architect's creativity, enables the creative heritage of this specialist to be viewed from a new perspective and restores the significance of the specialist in the development of architecture and urban planning in the region.
