BIOMIMETIC PRINCIPLES IN ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN

Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №2 (74) June, 2021

The article outlines the main concepts of biomimetic architecture and considers the influence of the biomimetic approach on architectural activity based on a review of domestic and foreign design experiences. The basic principles of biomimetics that can be used to create a harmonious architectural and natural environment are examined. The relevance of biomimetic principles is determined by a number of challenges that are facing an architect today as the complexity of objects to be designed increases and the focus of attention shifts to environmental and socio-economic factors. The biomimetic principles considered are based on the emulation of nature and are associated with the evolutionary biological model of living organisms that is responsible for their viability. The implementation of these principles increases the durability and sustainability of architectural objects while enabling architectural environments to acquire a distinctive and unique look.
