Ergo design in the creation of a set of games for persons with disabilities

Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №3 (87) September 2024

The article presents the results of experimental designing of a set of developmental games for rehabilitation of adults with impaired motor and cognitive functions due to stroke, illness or injury. The game as a way to rehabilitate this category of patients is in great demand and most effective, since it helps to motivate them to engage in a long-term treatment program at home. The degree of influence of educational games on the display, organization and restoration of patient activity is determined by the integration of design and ergonomics in the design solution of a rehabilitation and developmental set of games, as well as the creation of functional comfort in the gaming process.

A design project of rehabilitation board game for people with visuospatial dysgnosia

Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №2 (82) June, 2023

The article presents the concept of a rehabilitation board game for people with visuospatial dysgnosia. The functional purpose of gaming technology design is based on an ergonomic approach to ensuring safety for game elements, taking into account the psychophysical state of the patient. The artistic and graphic concept of the presented design project of a rehabilitation board game exposes and complements the engineering part of the project, in which the game elements are determined by the specifics of the topic and ergonomic requirements.

ERGONOMIC VALIDATION OF A REHABILITATION GAME DESIGN CONCEPT FOR POST-STROKE CONDITIONS

Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №2 (74) June, 2021

The article presents a design concept for a multimedia rehabilitation application for individuals with vision impairment after stroke or injury. The ergonomic considerations concern requirements for the application’s content taking into account its intended use, patient’s health status and psycho-physiological capabilities, and interactions between attending staff (clinicians, medical staff, relatives), the patient, and the application in the course of the rehabilitation program. This approach also enables the process of interaction between the user and the application’s functionalities to be optimized to facilitate the achievement of the desired therapeutic effect.
