At present, a person needs comfortable existence in sometimes unfavorable conditions for a full-fledged life, and the role of architecture and design is to ensure the scope of improvements necessary for a psychologically and physically comfortable life in an extreme environment. The reviews the main trends in environmental design in the northern landscape using of conceptual projects as an example, identifies the main cultural and natural factors influencing design decisions, and how all this affects the representation of the North in architectural and design practices.
