A vitality approach to architectural solutions for the far north on the example of a conceptual model for nomadic school in YNAO

Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №1 (81) March, 2023

The article considers the trend towards using a vitality approach as a basis for developing the architectural image of modern buildings in the Far North. The main carriers of vitality in the northern regions are outlined. The mental well-being of local nomadic peoples is considered to be associated with the degree of susceptibility of the environment to the program of intensive development of the North. The need for and possibility of increasing the vitality of the environment are analyzed. It is pointed out that the nomadic Nenets people feature a personalized perception of environmental changes brought about by the utilitarian nature of current development of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Architectural solutions are identified which reflect the architectural semantic mechanisms that are based on the Nenets culture and nomads' perception of the environment and lead to the principle of architectural vitality. A conceptual model of Nomadic School with the application of architectural solutions capable of expressing the vitality of the environment is considered.
