Historical evolution of the traditional canon of architectural proportions "The square root of three seconds" in the planning of Chinese cities

The article examines and analyzes architectural proportions in the modern urban planning and architecture of China. The concept of the proportion "The root of three seconds" (√3/2) is outlined, the use of proportionation techniques in urban planning is illustrated with examples, and the evolution of the proportions and their applications in the modern architecture of China are briefly described. Using the planning structures of several Chinese cities and fragments of open spaces in these cities as an example, graphical analytical schemes of the geometry of proportions are derived.
