Global and regional trends in modern architecture

The article discusses the current problem of modern-day architecture in many of the Russian cities where a trend towards globalization and the loss of regional and national identity has been obvious in recent decades. We examine the reasons for the loss of regional identity in Russian architecture, show the ways and means of taking into account regional characteristics in the development of Russian architecture, and consider the emergence and formation of regional architectural schools. The experiences of renowned foreign architects in preserving and developing the national identity of architecture are overviewed.
