Tactility in environmental design: psychoemotional and ecological aspects

Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №1 (93) March, 2026

The article analyzes the role of tactile qualities in creating a comfortable, psycho-emotional, and environmentally friendly environment. It also examines the influence of tactile sensations on human emotions and on the evaluation of a design object. Particular attention is paid to the neurophysiologic mechanisms of human perception, the role of tactility in understanding form, interacting with surrounding objects, and in spatial orientation. General trends in tactile design in metamodernist design are identified: material authenticity, interactive engagement, and tactile narrative. Consideration is given to the potential of tactile interfaces designed at the intersection of design and digital technologies and providing a link between physical and virtual reality. The potential of artificial intelligence for creating tactile experiences and future prospects for tactile design are analyzed.
