Characteristics of wooden buildings in the city of Cherepovets, Novgorod province, planned for construction in the last third of the 19th century. Part I

The article presents an analysis of the wooden residential architecture of the city of Cherepovets in the Novgorod province in the last third of the 19th century. The characteristics of wooden buildings are based on a review of documents from the State Archives of the Vologda Region. The first part of the article examines the spatial planning solutions and the appearance of the main facades of wooden residential buildings which have not been analysed in the scholarly literature before. The verbal description of the buildings is accompanied by visual information (site plans, architectural plans, and exterior views of the main facades) which have not been published before.
