STYLISTIC METAMORPHOSES OF THE ARCHITECTURE OF VORONEZH 1930s–1950s

The article considers the artistic characteristics of Voronezh projects built between the early 1930s to the mid-1950s. Regularities in how the Neoclassical architecture of the city emerged during that period are identifies taking into account the regional specificity. A conclusion is made that the stylistic metamorphoses caused by changes in mainstream Soviet architecture did not have an effect on the transformations of the esthetic qualities of the buildings in Voronezh. On the contrary, they added more expressiveness to them. They city, practically erased during the Great Patriotic War, was “reformatted” within a short time and gained strongly pronounced classical architecture lines.
