THE CREATIVE SPACE OF RUSSIAN CITIES

The economic context in which Russian cities have found themselves does not favour the formation of a creative stratum in urban populations and urban spatial environments. In these conditions, the development of urban creative spaces may be thought of as an integrated by-product of a more banal but widely sought-for orientation to the formation of a comfortable natural recreation skeleton at the interfaces between historical, industrial and natural landscapes. Design modelling of a recreational creative urban space has been carried out in a series of student projects under the supervision of A.V.Bazhenov at the Urban Planning Subdepartment of Moscow Architectural Institute.
