INTRODUCTION TO ARCHITECTURAL MORPHOLOGY OF OPEN CITY SPACES

Based on a theoretical review of studies on the morphology of open city spaces, the article proposes to introduce the term «architectural morphology» and provides a description of the resulting three basic approaches: morphodescriptive, morphotypical and morphogenetic. Consideration of these research areas suggests good prospects for using the morphotypical approach for further research into open city spaces.
