TRANSIT POTENTIAL AND ITS INFLUENCE ON THE FORMATION OF A NEW MATERIAL-SPATIAL INFRASTRUCTURE IN DNESTR REGION
Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №1 (45) March, 2014
The factor of having adjacent territories plays a defining role for unrecognized states with regard to their survival since, as a rule, it is an external resource that allows the economy of such a territory to be developing as normally as possible.
This topic is currently important due to the need to develop a new communication framework for the settlement pattern of the Transdniestrian region. The communication framework should be developed according to a unified concept of settlement in Transnistria and rely on the formation of a universal grid ensuring spatial accessibility throughout the region, including equal accessibility of the communication framework’s nodes as the focal points of local agglomerations, and integration into international communication networks , both European and Asian.
The important role of cross-border cooperation for the unrecognized Dnestr republic is determined by its favourable geographical and logistical location as one of the basic sources for development of the region.
The basic object of this study is mutual relations between the individual states which provide a basis for the formation and development of adjacent territories and transformations of national systems of settlement taking into account their participation in international processes, which are growing more intensive in the era of globalization.
