The article considers the evolution of the spatial planning structure of historical residential estates in St. Petersburg by studying the phased development of the area of the former Troitskaya Street (now Rubenstein Street). A step-by-step graphic reconstruction of a fragment of the urban environment (within the boundaries: the embankment of the Fontanka River, Grafsky Lane, Vladimirsky Prospekt, Nevsky Prospekt) helped reveal the trends in the formation and the features of the existing architectural and planning parameters of the frame and fabric of St. Petersburg’s urban historic environment.
