Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №2 (86) June, 2024
The article is a part of a study devoted to the railway architecture of the Far East at the turn of the 20th century. It analyzes the significance of the Amur Railway, its planning and residential development. Using the example of class III stations, the specifics of the general plans and architecture of the railway settlements are considered, and their differences from similar stations of the Ussuri Railway are identified. A concept for improving the environment of the railway station area in the city of Spassk-Dalniy
Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №1 (81) March, 2023
The article considers issues in the conservation of the architectural heritage of the Ussuri railroad (the historical name of the line from Vladivostok to Khabarovsk). The study is a part of a large research project on the architectural image of the homeland and, specifically, the image of the homeland in the Far East. Spassk-Dalniy has preserved wooden residential buildings and a few stone buildings. Overall, the area around the railway station has not changed much since the line was built. The main part of the article discusses a project proposal to renovate the environment of this area with possible prospects for including it in the tourist railway routes. The design solution proposed is a result of six months work. The main provisions of the concept were derived in the course of the on-site studies and surveys conducted in 2021 and 2022. Russian and foreign experiences in the renovation of industrial and railway heritage sites are reviewed. A brief historical overview of the station area is provided.

ON STUDIES OF ARCHITECTURAL ORIENTALISM IN RUSSIA AND HUNGARY, (MID 19th - EARLY 20th CENTURY)
Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №1 (77) March, 2022
European representations of the East have been studied. A hypothesis is suggested that the construct "East" consisted of three parts: Islamic East, Buddhist East, and India. The evolution of Orientalism is considered in the context of the European colonial policy in the second half of the 19th century. The bulk of the article is devoted to the exhibition architecture of 1867-1900. Examples of Orientalism in Russia and Hungary are reviewed

THE "VERNACULAR" AND THE "NATIONAL" IN THE CULTURAL LANDSCAPES OF ENLIGHTENMENT AND ART NOUVEAU, MID 19th - EARLY 20th CENTURY
Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №4 (76) December, 2021
The article deals with the construction of the "vernacular" and the "national" in the Russian architecture of the 19th - early 20th century. A brief overview of the sources on the topic is given, new materials from the funds of the Russian State Historical Archive in St. Petersburg are introduced, and less obvious directions in the "legalization of the vernacular" in the cultural landscape of the Enlightenment are proposed for discussion. The stages of the “Russian court revival” from “Russian” as “exotic” (along with “Chinese”) to “Russian” as “national” are reviewed.

REPRESENTATIONS OF THE EMPIRE AND THE ARCHITECTURAL IMAGE OF THE HOMELAND: PACIFIC RUSSIA AND RUSSIAN TURKESTAN
Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №2 (74) June, 2021
The focus of the article is on the representations of the Russian Empire in the New Lands (the Far East and Turkestan) which became part of the Republic of Ingushetia at the same time in the late 19th - early 20th century, and the mirror problem of constructing a convincing image of the East for the residents of the metropolis. The emergence of Orientalism, "Russian style" and "frontier architecture" is considered. The conclusion is made that the cultural policy of Russian colonialism was variable.

RECONSTRUCTION OF THE HISTORICAL ARCHITECTURAL ENVIRONMENT IN NORTH-EASTERN CITIES OF CHINA
Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №1 (69) March, 2020
This paper is a continuation of the study into the architectural and urban development phenomenon of the early 20th century – paired settlements along the Chinese-Eastern railway. Previously, the author considered the architecture and plans of the Russian settlements around such stations and the conservation of the Russian heritage in Heilongjiang province. The purpose of the current study is to review the results of developing architectural reconstruction projects for the historical environments of the former Russian settlements and their inclusion into the contemporary cultural landscapes of Chinese cities.
