OPEN RECREATIONAL SPACES ON WATER

Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №4 (80) December, 2022

The article reviews extensive design material on new trends in the development of open recreation spaces on water. Open urban spaces are considered from environmental design perspectives focusing on the specifics of designing recreational spaces on water, including general principles and design techniques for developing the spatial environment of this type and recreation potentialities of water. The concept of open recreation space on water is formulated. Current trends in the arrangement of such spaces are systematized and principal ways of development are identified. A comprehensive overview of their conceptual varieties and compositional features is provided.

LANDSCAPE AND ARCHITECTURE CONCEPTS OF MODERN WINERIES

Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №1 (73) March, 2021

The article analyzes spatial interactions between modern winery architectural projects and their surrounding landscapes. The main winery landscaping concepts in Russia and other countries are identified and rationalized. These are characterized by integration of production facilities into the surrounding landscape; embedding in a landscape with little artificial landscaping; design of landscape and park ensembles at wineries; visual enhancement of the existing landscape through optical illusions; and use of metaphors to create a symbolic landscape. All landscaping concepts are based on two core principles: a recognizable landscape and a brand building, and eco-friendly coexistence of the building and the natural environment. Winery location away from existing urban or rural developments opens up new opportunities for laying out production and auxiliary facilities and planning their interaction with the landscape.

BIONIC PLAY FORMS IN OPEN URBAN SPACES

Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №3 (71) September, 2020

The typological features of bionic design forms in open urban spaces are considered for the first time. International experiences in the designing of such objects are reviewed from the perspective of not only their artistic characteristics but also play functions. The term «bionic play forms» is proposed, and these forms are broken down into play sculptures, play art objects and play landscapes. Arguments are provided in support of the application of bionic design criteria to the construction of a model of interaction between nature, man and urban environment.

COMBINED STRUCTURES AS A BASIS OF CHILDREN'S PLAYING OBJECT FORMS

Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №2 (70) June, 2020

The article considers combined structures, a new principle of form development in spatial design. The characteristics and potentialities of this method for designing children's play environments are reviewed. A correlation analysis of modular and structural principles of form design as a basis for the creation of more complex structures is carried out. Similar approaches and treatments available in the theory are identified. It is emphasized that this approach to form could help diversify children's play environments and fill them with new meanings.

COURTYARDS NEAR THE WATER. DESIGN FEATURES

Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №2 (70) June, 2020

For the first time, the article reviews a large amount of design material dedicated to courtyards near water and identifies the typology of courtyards based on their spatial structure. This type of coastal areas is considered from the perspective of environmental design and its main principle – harmonious coexistence of humans, artificial environment, and nature. The article discusses the principles and approaches to the design of this type of open spaces, and identifies the characteristic features of courtyards in modern residential complexes located near the water in European cities.
