Architectural and artistic framework of the fortified city of Vyborg: patterns of formation, graphoanalytical visualization method

Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №2 (90) June, 2025

The fortifications and urban landscape of Vyborg are examined by a step-by-step structural analysis of its formation and destruction using a graphoanalytical method adapted for visualization of architectural and artistic frameworks. Three types of connection in spatial perception (movement, event, and visual connections) are identified for each stage in history and then artistically interpreted to reveal patterns of formation of the architectural and artistic framework, its formal modifications, and figurative invariants. It is concluded that the mode has potential for practical applications in the regeneration of architectural landscapes of various degrees of destruction.
