POLYSTRUCTURAL ORGANIZATION OF MODERN RAILWAY TRANSPORT JUNCTIONS

The article is devoted to the problem of transformation of railway transport hubs in large industrial cities. The analysis of modern railway station complexes indicates their polystructural nature which unites six structural entities, the architectural treatment of which largely depends on the ability to identify common typological similarities among a large number of multifunctional objects, subsystems and relationships. The techniques of architectural organization of a polystructural system are identified in three directions: a multi-level monoblock under a single roof; a cross-block transport hub; pivotal urban-block construction.

THE STRUCTORE OF AN ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION CENTER IN A LARGE INDUSTRIAL CITY

The article proposes to contribute to the solution of environmental problems in a large industrial city by setting up a city environmental protection center that would coordinate the activities of all stakeholders in the area of environmental protection. Such a center would perform educational, organizational and public functions (seminars, conferences, exhibitions, thematic events at city schools and universities). The center may be provided with a compact R&D facility (an ecological technopark) including experimental facilities for lean water and municipal and industrial waste water treatment and localization and cleaning of air. In addition to pilot and practical environmental nature protection activities, the center could offer internship and professional development services and special laboratory investigations.
