SOME ISSUES IN THE IMPLEMENTION OF THE CONCEPT OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN MODERN RESIDENTIAL WOODEN ARCHITECTURE

Theoretical grounds of the concept of sustainable development in the theory of architecture in relation to the construction of wooden residential buildings are considered. The use of renewable energy sources in architectural designs of wooden residential buildings is reviewed. It is concluded that the century-old experiences of Russia in the current use of wood as a building material for residential buildings instead of concrete, plastic or metal complies with the principles of sustainable development and sustainable architecture. Areas of action are identified whereby the government could support wooden architecture heritage conservation in urban and rural settings.

MODERN PRACTICE OF LOG CONSTRUCTION IN RUSSIA. THE SPATIAL STRUCTURE OF THE DWELLING

The article reviews modern experiences in the designing of detached wooden houses in Russia. Typical examples of wooden log houses and designs from Russian practice are presented. The main trends and characteristics of modern log-house spatial treatment are identified. Common features are revealed in the spatial design of modern log houses and traditional log dwellings.
