METHODS AND TECHNIQUES FOR DEVELOPING THE DESIGN CODE OF A MODERN URBAN DEVELOPMENT (ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE NOVO-SAVINOVSKY DISTRICT OF KAZAN)

The article is devoted to the methodology for developing a design code for urban areas with modern housing. Unlike a historical environment, in which the identity or the "spirit of the place" is easily read out by both local residents and tourists thanks to the abundance of architectural monuments in it, a typical residential development does not provide that many references for perceiving its identity. A design code developed for such spaces can become a tool for creating an esthetically valuable and comfortable neighborhood environment. In this research work for a master’s thesis, an algorithm and a model were developed for constructing a design code for the Novo-Savinovsky district of Kazan on the basis of typical and unique characteristics of the territory, including the identity of the place, which influences the imagery of the design code. Procedures and recommendations for its development for different types of regional environment are suggested.

ON THE METHODOLOGY OF MODELING LOCAL ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATIONS IN RELATION TO THE CITY OF ZELENODOLSK

The article presents a comprehensive analysis of the structural and planning framework of the city of Zelenodolsk, spatial characteristics of its built environment, and development of the open public spaces. Spatial and environmental morphotypes, their boundaries and morphological features were determined. General recommendations for the imagery of Zelenodolsk’s design code are given. The findings can provide a basis for the development of local environmental and spatial regulations of Zelenodolsk for its historically established areas, new construction, and reconstruction zones.
