The article discusses the evolution of the architecture of the residential town for employees of the Ludvig Nobel plant in the period from 1885 to 1917, representing transition from the tradition of rental housing to city-block housing construction in St. Petersburg. This development served as a prototype for the further development of residential complexes in the post-revolutionary period.

Architectural and planning heritage of the low-rise residential complex in Novaya derevnya (St. Petersburg)

The article presents a comprehensive analysis of the low-rise residential development implemented in the Zhdanovsky district of Leningrad in the period from 1947 to the 1950s. The objectives of the study were to identify the valuable architectural, planning and spatial treatment characteristics, assess the level of comfort against modern living standards, and determine the historical and cultural significance of the low-rise residential complex.

The author describes in detail his planning and development solutions for the low-rise residential complex in Uritsk and considers the spatial planning features of the low-rise residential complex located in Sosnovaya Polyana, Leningrad Region developed during the first post-war decade.

The conservation of the historical low-rise architectural and planning heritage, environment and landscape pertaining to the first postwar decade in Saint-Petersburg presents an important challenge from the historical, cultural, architectural and planning perspectives.
The article examines the spatial planning features and historical and cultural significance of the low-rise residential complex located in Leningrad in Volodarsky district (Nevsky district after 1948) in Moskovskaya street (now Krupskaya street) built up in the period from 1946 to 1949.
