ARCHITECTURAL PRESENTATION: ANALYSIS OF THE CONCEPT AND PROBLEM AREA
Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №3 (39) September, 2012
This article is a theoretical consideration of architectural presentation as an advanced concept that includes a wide range of types for architectural design presentation and professional communication and reviews technical and artistic tools used for its implementation. Architectural presentation is defined as a special field in the architectural profession that includes preparing and presenting new information on an architectural design, project or architect (architectural firm) in graphic, 3D, media and verbal forms to the target audience. The article also reveals the theoretical specificity of the "representation" and "presentation" concepts, which record the processes of "expression" and "representation", respectively. Representation is considered as an integrated stage of the presentation process, whereby the architect establishes and fixes his (her) ideas using some media before introducing them to the recipient.
The article raises the question of identifying the problem field of the concept. Architectural presentation as the object of this study is considered as an element of professional communication, culture, and business. From the cultural point of view, the architectural presentation is a system or language for encoding information in the context of professional communication. On the other hand, as a communication tool, the architectural presentation performs practical functions in modern professional practice and education: closing the information gap, providing an effective design process and establishing professional communication links. The author regards studying architectural presentation as part of professional practice and education as the most important way to approach the subject at the current stage.
