The article is devoted to the issue of the effect of social and economic conditions on the role of a new architectural object in a historical environment. The author analyses the compositional features of the combination of the building of a new type and the historical setting and touches upon the issue of reconstruction of an unfinished industrial facility located in an urban environment.
