ENGLISH ARCHITECTURE OF THE 16th-18th CENTURIES AND TRANSFORMATIONS OF ARCHITECTURAL ORDER

In this article, the author considers the evolution of the classical order in England from the second half of the 16th to the early 19th century.
The research is based on two methods – stylistic analysis and analysis of historical and cultural aspects in the application of the classical order by English architects over more than three hundred years and the basic principles of or approaches to such application.
It is concluded that the analysis of how the classical order was used can help us understand not only the style and idiom of every particular master but also develop a better understanding of the cultural situation or the context in which every particular architect worked.
