RESEARCH AREAS AS KEY COMPONENTS IN THE SELF-ORGANISING SYSTEM OF ARCHITECTURAL SCIENCE
Architecton: Proceedings of Higher Education №4 (36) December, 2011
The article reveals the essence of priority areas for research in architecture and town-planning defining the scope of research and establishing the cognitive core of architectural science. Analysis of the essential structure of architectural knowledge makes it possible, in particular, to identify such intradisciplinary areas as architectural composition, architectural form generation, architectural style generation, architectural pedagogics, as well as city studies, city-planning composition and city-planning aesthetics.
Also, the article identifies and characterizes a group of areas for interdisciplinary synthesis of knowledge, specifically, architectural semiotics, architectural psychology, architectural synergetics and city-planning sociology, city-planning ecology, and city-planning informatics. At the same time, the role of methodology and criticism are emphasized as components initiating the processes of logical construction of research and evaluation of research results. Also, an attempt is made in the article to identify, based on the principles of theory of self-organisation, nonequilibrium states in the behaviour of architectural science as a complex system and create an idealised model the structure of which provides for microlevel, macrolevel and megalevel in the emergence of theoretical thought.
